Health research in the South is mostly funded and directed by institutions in the North, and is not necessarily related to priority health needs as recognized by those in the South.
Forest resources in North Africa are significant in terms of area, and ecological and socioeconomic function. The forests are mainly located in the transboundary Atlas Mountain Chain, which extends from Morocco through Algeria to Tunisia.
Results of the assessment demonstrated an overwhelming need for support particularly in Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali and Sierra Leone.
