Solutions for a food-secure future
IDRC supports Canada’s commitment to help millions of people in developing countries lift themselves out of hunger and poverty.
Through the Centre’s Agriculture and Food Security program, IDRC invested more than CAD$179 million from 2009-2015 to develop, test, and scale up solutions that improve food security and nutrition in the developing world.
IDRC is making significant contributions to increase agricultural productivity, improve nutrition, and raise the incomes of men and women smallholder farmers. IDRC is accomplishing this through joint partnerships with Global Affairs Canada and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.
Our efforts have contributed to:
- New hope for healthier livestock
- Fewer crop losses and higher incomes
- Profitable, nutritious beans
- Enriched soils, more diverse diets
