Following the rupture of a large dam in southeastern Brazil, metal waste and mud flowed downstream, contaminating the water and wreaking havoc as the worst environmental disaster in the nation’s history. Adalto Bianchini's research is helping the country rewrite its rules on one of its most precious resources.
