Women as Actors for Peace : Building Bridges and Constructing Alliances

This project aims to generate knowledge that will empower women as agents for change in the Colombian conflict.

Researchers will characterize the discourse of three groups of women who play an important role in the process of national reconciliation - ex-combatants, peace activists and political representatives - and identify points of encounter and divergence between them. This, along with experiences related to women and disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR) in other countries, will inform a basic platform for action vis-à-vis DDR, justice and reparations. The researchers will work closely with the Colombian National Commission for Reparation and Reconciliation, and with international and nongovernmental organizations.
