Using Evaluation for CBNRM Capacity Development (Southeast Asia)

Recently, capacity development has regained a central place on the agenda of many donor organizations, including IDRC. The challenge is to measure the results of capacity development initiatives. In Asia, there are a few ongoing efforts to document the efficacy and impact of capacity development efforts in the area of community-based natural resource management (CBNRM). However, sharing lessons between organizations has remained limited. This project will bring together in an informal network of nine Asian organizations to develop and pilot methodologies for evaluating both the process and outcome of capacity development efforts in CBNRM. These IDRC partners have shown strong interest in working towards CBNRM centres of excellence. They are committed to channeling the results of their work to students, researchers, practitioners, community groups, policymakers and international organizations.
