TTI Phase 2 Institutional Support: Instituto de Estudios Peruanos

This funding will help strengthen Instituto de Estudios Peruanos' (IEP) role as a credible public policy institution in Peru by enhancing its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research.

About Instituto de Estudios Peruanos
IEP is a private institution dedicated to reducing inequalities in Peru. Its research agenda is organized around six themes:
-rural development and poverty
-inequality and economic development
-ethnicity, identity, and culture
-education and inclusion
-information society and regulation
-state, politics, and citizen participation

IEP receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).

Sound research, policy influence
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.

This second TTI phase (2014-2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For IEP, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.

Enhancing research, performance, and policy engagement
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, IEP is expected to
-attract and maintain a strong tier of junior to mid-career researchers who will have spent several years in IEP and are willing to remain over the long-term
-achieve a world-class peer-review system with increased participation of international peer-reviewers
-enhance visibility, reach, and access for IEP research outputs
-strengthen the Executive Council's managerial and strategic capabilities
-improve strategic planning as a formal and regular practice
-position IEP for institutional growth through streamlined systems and processes
-achieve a diversified and expanded portfolio of funding partners by implementing a resource mobilization strategy
-establish a culture of continuous reflection, improvement, and learning through monitoring and evaluating
-strengthen academic and policy networks
