This funding will help strengthen the Economic Policy Research Centre's (EPRC) role as a credible public policy institution in Uganda by enhancing its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research.

About the Economic Policy Research Centre
EPRC is an autonomous, not-for-profit organization that provides research-based evidence to support the formulation of government policies and programs, undertakes capacity-building activities in Uganda, and carries out policy engagement based on its research findings. EPRC receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).

Sound research, policy influence
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.

This second TTI phase (2014?2019) will fund 43 institutions. This will help them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For EPRC, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.

Enhancing research, performance, and policy engagement
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, EPRC is expected to
-contribute to Uganda's increased use of evidence-based research and training products in economic policy development and management
-improve the organization's ability to undertake high-quality, policy-relevant research
-publish peer-reviewed research papers, journal articles, and policy briefs
-contribute to local researchers' and policymakers' use of evidence in decision-making
-achieve a diversified portfolio of funding partners
-improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness to undertake policy analysis, research, and dissemination
-attract and retain high-quality researchers from Uganda and beyond
-increase EPRC participation in policy-relevant economic research planning and policy debates
-become more visible in national, regional, and international economic policy research circles
-strengthen collaboration with institutions, researchers, and policymakers concerned with economic policy research
