TTI Phase 2 Institutional Support: Centro de Análisis y Difusión de la Economía Paraguaya

This project will enhance Centro de Análisis y Difusión de la Economía Paraguaya's (CADEP) role as a credible policy research institution in Paraguay by fostering its ability to provide high-quality, influential, and policy-relevant research.

About Centro de Análisis y Difusión de la Economía Paraguaya
CADEP is a non-governmental organization providing research and training in economic development. CADEP's main research areas are fiscal studies, competitiveness, trade policy, and employment issues. It receives its funding from the Think Tank Initiative (TTI).

Quality research, policy influence
TTI is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy.

This second TTI phase (2014-2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally. For CADEP, this project will help enhance its research quality, organizational performance, and policy engagement.

Stronger institution, stronger voice
Through this support over the next 4.5 years, CADEP is expected to
-strengthen its research capacities by recruiting senior researchers, having a greater proportion of full-time researchers, and establishing a research quality assurance system
-improve its governance with an extended board and established intermediate researchers and managers
-create more efficient and effective operations by delegating and decentralizing responsibilities from its two founding members
-enhance communication and outreach activities with local governments, Congress, and non-governmental organizations
-obtain a greater share of funding from non-TTI related sources

By 2019, CADEP will be a stronger institution. It is expected to produce high-quality research that will significantly influence policy-making in Paraguay. This will enhance its financial sustainability, while attracting new researchers and managers. Together, these activities will allow the institution to be ready for its founders' retirement.
