Think Tank Initiative and Think Tank Fund Peer Exchanges

The Think Tank Initiative (TTI) and the Think Tank Fund (TTF) are partnering to support peer exchanges between think tanks in regions where the programs are active: Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and Central and Eastern Europe (the former Soviet Union). This project will help reduce cooperation barriers among researchers and other think tank staff to stimulate collaboration and learning. TTI and TTF will provide funding to an intermediary organization or consultant to manage this initiative, including the application process, logistical arrangements, and final reporting.

The project's objectives include the following:
-recruit up to eight think tanks to participate in the peer exchanges;
-facilitate face-to-face and virtual exchanges;
-foster strong relations among the participants and their organizations through collaborative projects in comparative policy research and organizational development issues;
-conduct a comparative study on the barriers to think tank collaboration; and,
-evaluate this approach as a useful method to improve and encourage think tank collaboration.

During this pilot project, think tanks will submit proposals clearly outlining the value of cooperation. This may include:
-collaborating on a specific research project or proposal;
-planning future research collaborations; or,
-exchanging information on processes and procedures within the organizations.

Think tanks must be clear about their intentions and interests for engaging in the partnership. They must also have common expectations for their expected results.
