Strengthening Research Capacity to Enhance Natural Resources Management and Improve Rural Livelihoods (sub-Saharan Africa)

This project aims to strengthen the capacity of national agricultural research and extension systems (NARES) in Africa to apply participatory approaches and cutting-edge ideas to research for development. The project will involve a series of iterative steps including learning, practice, reflection and feedback, and focus on improving soil management. The results will help meet the demands of various groups (nongovernmental organizations, community-based organizations, farmers' groups, local decision-makers) for knowledge and technology, and contribute to the food and income security of the rural poor by enhancing the capacity of the NARES for effective applied research.
