Strengthening Evidence-based Policy Research and Advocacy for an African Green Revolution

The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has launched a vast program for increasing agricultural productivity and improving food security in Africa. To have a sustainable impact on food and nutritional security, however, agricultural technologies must be accompanied by appropriate and equitable policies. This requires a critical mass of high-level professionals in agricultural economics and applied agricultural social scientists. This project aims to strengthen the capacity of young African researchers and decision-makers in rigorous policy analysis and advocacy in certain West African countries, mainly Burkina-Faso, Mali, Niger and Bénin. It will do so by offering scholarships in collaboration with Canadian universities, and by strengthening collaboration between Alliance partners and IDRC partners in disseminating the research results to decision-makers.
