Strengthening Economic Skills and Climate Change Adaptive Capacity in Bénin

This project is one of seven being financed by IDRC's Africa Adaptation Research Centres (AARC) initiative. It builds on the results obtained from the project, Strengthening the Capacity to Adapt to Climate Change in Rural Bénin (104142).

The current project will allow the nongovernmental organization, Initiatives pour un développement intégré durable (IDID), to enhance the adaptive capacity of local communities in order to mitigate the negative effects of climate change on food security and rural poverty.

Researchers will deepen their investigation of adaptation options already identified, integrate adaptation into development plans at various levels (local, regional and national), strengthen the capacity of community early warning committees to manage climate-related risks and disasters, and assure the coordination, follow-up and evaluation, capitalization and communication of the project results and achievements.
