Regional East African Community Health Policy Initiative (REACH)

The Regional East African Community Health (REACH) policy initiative aims to improve health and health equity in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda by facilitating the translation of health research into policy and practice. Once fully established, REACH will function as a bridge linking health researchers and policymakers. It will do so by harvesting, synthesizing, repackaging and communicating research results to stakeholders in user-friendly terms. It will also help policymakers and healthcare providers express their information needs in the form of questions that can be investigated scientifically.

This grant will support the establishment of a regional hub for REACH in Arusha, Tanzania, and individual country nodes. The grant will also be used to leverage additional funding from interested donors, and launch each of the three national nodes with a consultative workshop for government officials, researchers and academics, and professional associations.
