Planning and Evaluation by Canadian Civil Society Organizations : Bridging Gaps between Methodologies

In the current global context, Canadian civil society organizations (CSOs) are finding it increasingly difficult to assess their efficiency and effectiveness, and report to external stakeholders, both donor agencies and beneficiaries. This grant will facilitate dialogue between Canadian civil society organizations and their partners on ways to strengthen learning-based assessment of their contribution to development and social change, with the idea of combining learning and accountability. Specifically, the research team will assess the various planning, monitoring and evaluation (PME) methods currently in use in the organizations involved, and foster the creation of PME systems that meet both accountability and learning requirements.
