Partnership Governance and Accountability

Partnerships involving public and private actors are becoming a key institutional pathway for development. Experience across business and the public sector confirms that failures in governance and accountability will almost certainly undermine the effectiveness and productivity of partnerships. Conversely, robust and participatory approaches to governance and accountability enhance performance and outcome. Yet little work has been undertaken in the area of partnership governance and accountability. This project aims to increase recognition of the importance of improving partnership governance and accountability, and how this may be achieved. A number of major partnerships will participate in an action-research process to improve their governance and accountability, and develop practical tools for doing so.
