Leadership Program for Promoting Policies Linking the Environment and Health in Africa

It is obvious that in many African countries, no linkages are being made between health policy and environment policy. In 2005, the global network Environment and Development Action in the Third World (ENDA-TM) francophone Africa launched an international capacity-building program in ecosystem approaches to human health (Ecohealth) in Dakar, Sénégal. Some 45 young leaders with a mission to work toward sustainable development in their respective environments were trained. Building on the achievements and lessons learned from the first cycle, this grant will allow ENDA-TM francophone Africa to organize an initiative aimed at training 100 young civil servants and parliamentarians from three West Africa countries, mainly, Bénin, Côte d'Ivoire and Sénégal.
