International Community-University Research Alliance Program (ICURA)
The International Community-University Research Alliance program (ICURA) is a joint initiative of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and IDRC. ICURA seeks to foster innovative research, training and the creation of new knowledge in areas of importance to the social, cultural and economic development of communities in Canada and in low- and middle-income countries. The program will support up to nine proposal development grants and up to three collaborative five-year applied research projects involving university researchers and community partners. The program is an open competition adjudicated by an international peer-review committee. Proposals will be evaluated on their relevance to IDRC's four program areas, the rationale and demand for comparative action-research, and the potential for mutually beneficial collaboration.
