Institutional Support : Centre for Research and Technology Development (RESTECH)

The Centre for Research and Technology Development (RESTECH) is a two-year-old science and technology research centre at Maseno University in western Kenya. The Centre focuses on science and technology research to influence both national policies and development practices at the community level. Currently, RESTECH is totally dependent on part-time researchers from the University. This grant from IDRC's Think Tank Initiative (TTI) will allow RESTECH to accelerate completion of its start-up phase, with a focus on hiring fulltime research staff, upgrading the infrastructure, and improving management systems, including monitoring and evaluation. It is expected that by the second year of the grant period RESTECH will be capable of attracting the interest of a broad spectrum of donors, policymakers and researchers.
