Institutional Support : Agricultural and Rural Forecasting Initiative (Sénégal)

Initiative Prospective Agricole et Rural (IPAR), Sénégal, began in 2004 and was formally registered in October 2008 as an independent, nonprofit research organization. The Initiative is committed to promoting dialogue and informing debate between policymakers, researchers and research users in the areas of agriculture, migration, employment and food security. It has forged links with peasant networks, civil society organizations, private enterprises, and policymakers, including the Ministry of Agriculture. This grant from IDRC's Think Tank Initiative (TTI) will allow IPAR to adopt a strategic plan, recruit fulltime staff and establish a rigorous monitoring system, thereby improving its organizational performance, research quality and outreach.
