Indian Telecentre Academy

IDRC's has developed a global program in support of building the capacity of the anticipated one million telecentre operators that will emerge by 2010.'s national partners have been involved in shaping the global academy that will have national training institutions attached to it. This grant will enable the M.S. Swaminathan Foundation partnership with telecentre,.org and a number of Indian partners to establish the Indian Telecentre Academy. The Foundation will also design a basic telecentre management curriculum, at least 10 modules on livelihood enhancement for communities, a help-desk and a systematic evaluation function to monitor the training curriculum and administration of the Academy. The academy will begin by training 350 master trainers and, with support from the Indira Gandhi National Open University, strive to scale up the effort and address the needs of the 100 000 telecentre operators in India by 2010.
