HIV/AIDS Monitor Country Studies

The HIV/AIDS Monitor aims to improve the performance of three major HIV/AIDS initiatives: the Global Fund, the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the World Bank.

Led by the Centre for Global Development (CGD), researchers will examine the operations, procedures and performance of the three initiatives in four selected countries (Ethiopia, Mozambique, Uganda and Zambia), and provide timely analysis to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of each. The analysis will focus on seven themes:

  • tracking the funding;
  • women and gender;
  • funding and performance;
  • HIV/AIDS and reproductive health;
  • national versus parallel systems;
  • recurrent cost burden and sustainability; and
  • impact on labour market for healthcare workers and managers.

This grant will support work on three of these themes.
