Health Enterprise Architecture Laboratory (HEAL)

A health information system is made up of discreet and modular building blocks that need to interoperate with one another. The health informatics researcher is the architect responsible for ensuring that they do so.

This grant will allow the Health Enterprise Architecture Laboratory (HEAL) based at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, to provide a rigorous, world-class training program for health informatics researchers, and a test bed for analyses under low-resource conditions. HEAL will work with public and private, local and international organizations to support practical research projects and internships for graduates, as well as openly accessible educational materials, research articles and communication pieces to strengthen the contribution of Southern researchers to this growing field.
