Exploring the Influence of Ethiopian Women Parliamentarians

In recent years the number of women in the Ethiopian Parliament has increased, reaching its highest level (21.2%) in the history of the country.

This grant will support a modest pioneering study to explore the perceptions of current Ethiopian women parliamentarians concerning their ability to effect policy changes and enforce gender equity. The research, which will involve surveys, focus group discussions, in-depth interviews and a documentation review, will be conducted before the national election scheduled in May 2010.
