Economic Research Forum for the Arab Countries, Iran and Turkey : Endowment and Program Support Grant

The Economic Research Forum for the Arab Countries, Iran and Turkey (ERF) is the only regional network for economic research covering the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It is dedicated to providing high quality economic research to contribute to sustainable development in the Arab countries, Iran and Turkey. The ERF has become well known both within and beyond the region. IDRC has cooperated with ERF since it was founded in 1993 on a series of activities related to IDRC programming priorities in trade, employment and competitiveness. An ambitious strategy has been developed for future work, informed by an external evaluation supported by IDRC. ERF plans to expand and deepen the scope of its research and communications activities, but a stronger financial base is needed for this to be possible. As a sign of confidence in the organization, donors from the MENA region have contributed major funding to the ERF endowment in recent years. This project will provide top-up funds to the ERF endowment to help ensure sustainability, and a three year core grant to support capacity building and an expanded range of activities in the short and medium term.
