Dialogue on Solutions to the Palestinian Refugee Problem

The Palestinian refugee issue remains a key component of any just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian Israeli conflict. How the subject is addressed will shape the future of the Middle East; unresolved refugee issues will prevent a durable peace between Israelis and Palestinians. This project will enhance the capacity of local, regional and international stakeholders (including policymakers, negotiators, academics, researchers and nongovernmental organizations) to address key aspects of a solution to the refugee issue in any future negotiations. It will do so by supporting a series of meetings informed by technical documents prepared by experts that focus on the following: policy options such as compensation, absorption and acknowledgement; design options for a claims mechanism; the future of refugee camps in the West Bank and Gaza and various host countries, and confidence-building measures to sustain an agreement.
