CarlSnet II : Strengthening the Caribbean ICT Virtual Stakeholders Community (CIVIC)

CarlSnet I arose out of the recognition that the Caribbean ICT Stakeholders Virtual Community (CIVIC) needed some form of animation if it were to fulfill its role as a regional mechanism to promote and support the use of information and communication technology for development (ICT4D). CarlSnet I was funded under the project, ICTs for Development in the Caribbean (102243).

This project builds on the lessons learned from CarlSnet I, CIVIC working groups and a CIVIC survey. The project will establish a foundation and design a workplan for scaling up CIVIC as a regional mechanism for promoting knowledge exchange, capacity building and collaboration between Caribbean ICT stakeholders. Project activities will include training in online moderation; formation of thematic working groups; improvement of the online platform; design of a monitoring and evaluation framework; coordination of a face-to-face meeting of CIVIC members; and promoting the further engagement of French- and Spanish-speaking participants.
