Application of a Community eS@nté Platform in Maternal and Child Health in Sénégal

To implement effective health policy, Sénégal needs reliable, complete and timely information for monitoring cases, diseases and healthcare delivery. Unfortunately, the existing information system is incapable of meeting the needs of a poor, rural, dispersed and often mobile population. This project aims to generate knowledge on how and under what conditions information technology, open access software, electronic patient files and telehealth can improve medical and healthcare data for better health services. A multidisciplinary team of researchers will develop an integrated health and medical information system and implement it in the region of Louga, considered a priority because of its alarming rates of maternal and child mortality.
