Actuarial Sciences Graduate Training Program (India-Waterloo)

The explosive growth of India's economy has led to a proliferation of insurance companies and a dire need for actuarial professionals. The University of Waterloo (Ontario) Canada has established a program to build actuarial talent for India's financial services including four elements: short professional development courses for actuarial practitioners in India; a professional master's program; consultation services to help Indian partner institutions establish actuarial programs; and extended (Indian) faculty visits.

IDRC will contribute to the program by supporting three Indian students enrolled in the master's program, and visits by Indian faculty to Waterloo. The visits are intended to provide the basis for the development of master's programs in actuarial science in India, and possibly joint research projects.
