Leading think tanks, government officials, representatives from international organizations, and stakeholders from the business community gathered at the summit to convey public policy recommendations to the G20 Argentina presidency. The objective is to collaborate with the G20 leaders meeting at the end of the year.
IDRC supported this official G20 engagement group in an effort to bring voices and perspectives from developing countries to G20. Multidisciplinary teams of researchers produced a series of policy briefs on issues such as women’s financial inclusion, women’s labour market participation, addressing care needs, and the future of work and education. IDRC staff and research partners, including those from the Think Tank Initiative, contributed to the policy briefs listed below, which were presented during the T20 Summit:
- The Imperative of Addressing Care Needs for G20 countries
- Achieving “25 by 25”: Actions to make Women’s Labour Inclusion a G20 Priority
- Economic Empowerment of Rural Women
- Gender Mainstreaming: A Strategic Approach
- Bridging the Gender Digital Gap
IDRC is also supporting T20 processes to ensure that women’s voices and issues of gender equity are consistently represented. For example, the IDRC-supported Grupo Sofia is working with the T20 Gender Economic Equity Task Force to develop a toolkit to mainstream gender in the organization’s work.
