On March 14, 2019 at 4:30 p.m., IDRC is hosting an interactive discussion, “Promoting women's empowerment through more equitable services and infrastructure,” at the NGO CSW Forum in New York, parallel to the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
Panelists will look at enhancing women’s empowerment through gender-disaggregated data and legal identity for women, feminist open government, measures for violence-free work spaces, and new tools for social protection programs.
Our expert panel features:
- Mayra Buvinic, Senior Fellow, Data2X and Center for Global Development, United States
- Allison Merchant, Senior Gender Advisor, Open Government Partnership and Manager, Feminist Open Government Initiative, United States
- Rakhi Sehgal, labour researcher and activist, India
- Carolina Trivelli, researcher, Instituto de Estudios Peruanos and former Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Peru.
This panel is part of two weeks of events, from March 10 to 22, 2019, to engage with the official UN meetings. An annual forum, NGO CSW draws representatives from non-governmental organizations from around the world to discuss, network, share strategies, and lobby government policymakers to make the changes that will improve the lives of women and girls.
