Call for proposals in cancer research

November 01, 2016

IDRC, the Israel Science Foundation (ISF), the Azrieli Foundation, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) announce the third call for proposals in the Joint Canada-Israel Health Research Program.

Approximately six grants worth up to CA$1,170,000 each will be awarded to joint Canadian-Israeli biomedical science research teams for a period of up to three years.

These grants will support Canadian and Israeli researchers, who will work with collaborators from low- and middle-income countries, to explore new frontiers in overcoming therapeutic resistance in high fatality cancers. Potential research topics can include, but are not limited to:

  • tumor heterogeneity
  • novel approaches to cancer therapy
  • predictive models of cancer
  • tumor microenvironments
  • cancer-related biochemical signalling networks
  • cancer metabolism
  • pathogenesis of infection associated cancers

Applicants must include a plan for integrating researchers from low- and middle-income countries that will establish long-term scientific relationships. Such plans can include a range of activities that support the proposal’s research and training objectives and leverage this funding opportunity to design a collaborative international research project.

The application for this funding opportunity is a two-step process that requires registration and application.

Registration deadline: January 17, 2017
Application deadline: February 14, 2017
