Unsolicited Concept Notes

Do you have a research idea you would like to pursue? To make the best use of your time and ours, we’ve developed a simple process to see how well your idea fits with our funding priorities.

Step 1. Determine the fit

The programs currently accepting unsolicited concept notes are listed below. Visit the program web page to learn about our research priorities. Your idea must fit within the program’s focus areas.

Step 2. Fill out the form below

Please keep it short. Remember: research ideas are not full proposals.

Step 3. Review by IDRC

We will acknowledge receipt of your concept note by email. Our scientific and technical staff review all concept notes. We normally conduct reviews on a quarterly basis or twice yearly. It may take some time before you find out if your idea has been accepted or rejected. We will email you to advise you of our decision. If your idea is accepted, we will ask you to develop a more comprehensive project proposal. Thank you for your interest.
