One billion people worldwide cannot prove their legal identity. Without proof, they are more vulnerable to poverty, statelessness, exploitation, and abuse. A strong civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) system is the foundation for governments to manage identity. This system captures current identity characteristics by registering the vital events of a country’s entire population, including births, marriages, divorces, and deaths.

Upcoming webinars will introduce CRVS and identity management systems and highlight findings from the new Compendium of Good Practices in Linking CRVS and ID Management Systems, featuring case studies from Armenia, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, Namibia, the Netherlands, and Peru.
