The sharing and exchange of knowledge with and among countries is one of the key functions of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge Innovation Exchange (KIX). Four regional KIX hubs act as knowledge brokers among country representatives to identify priorities and  share information, innovations and best practices. Together, these hubs foster the exchange of demand-driven regional knowledge and build the capacity of members to identify, use, share, and mobilize evidence.

Eighteen months after their launch, mostly working under the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, the hubs have activated regional exchanges and contributed to informed debates on essential education issues, identifying priorities of regional and national importance.

On July 26, 2021, as part of the “Global Education Summit: Financing GPE 2021-2025”, co-hosted by the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, and the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, KIX will host a panel discussion to highlight the contribution of its hubs to educational ownership and knowledge exchange at the regional and national levels. The side event will be hosted in English and include simultaneous translation in French.

The panel will feature representatives from the four KIX hubs who will compare and discuss lessons learned on:

  • what works and what doesn't work when increasing the involvement of national representatives in the KIX hub initiatives

  • effective mechanisms to identify and validate priorities regarding knowledge and research

  • innovative ways to share knowledge, build capacity and foster exchange in times of limited mobility.
