The Arab Water Academy and the USAID encourages the brightest middle managers working in the water sector to apply for its first capacity development program which will be held on 28 June-2 July 2009. This program aims to help future water leaders explore -in depth- the nature and complexities of governance and its implication for addressing cutting edge water issues in the Arab world. The program is designed for middle management in Egypt , Jordan , Morocco , Oman and United Arab Emirates who operate in the field of water at a strategic level in ministries, government agencies, private sector, public sector, civil society organizations and academic institutions. The program, delivered by international and regional experts thus seeks to: 1. Develop an understanding of the concepts, roles, and practices of effective water governance 2. Enable participants to identify and analyze critical governance-related problems in the water sector 3. Enable participants to design ideas and develop leadership capabilities to bring about change in water governance 4. Develop a close support network of colleagues both within and across countries The course is free of charge and the Arab Water Academy will cover travel and hotel accommodation (according to AWA criteria).
