In June 12-14, 2009, PAN Asia Networking (PAN) will hold the “All Partners' Conference” to bring together its research partners in the Asian region.  The conference is a key evaluation activity at the mid-point of PAN’s current programming life-cycle.  The conference will be held at the Wawasan Open University in Penang, Malaysia. More than 150 participants, including project and sub-project leads, representatives from PAN research networks, targeted global researchers in ICTD, key regional practitioners and researchers, evaluators, donors and relevant IDRC staff will attend the conference.

The conference is intended for people who are related to PAN projects and therefore participation is by invitation only.

The conference has four aims or expected outcomes:

  • Take stock of the outcomes of PAN supported projects and how they contributed to the program’s growth. The conference will provide a platform to showcase PAN partners’ achievements and demonstrate how they have contributed to PAN’s vision and mission.
  • Provide a space for learning for partners by offering capacity building and skills training. This capacity building exercise will reflect specific needs of PAN partners and will provide ample opportunities for peer learning and interaction for the participants. Some of the training modules to be offered include evaluation, finance and administration, and network management.
  • Facilitate networking among the PAN partners and the PAN/IDRC team. The conference will give partners the opportunity to interact and learn about each others work. Such networking will assist in identifying key resources for ICTD research as well as in exploring possible collaboration among the partners.
  • Identify future research priorities in ICTD in Asia. The conference will provide a space for stimulating debates and dialogue among the partners to identify the key trends in technologies and more generally – development issues in the region, and generate ideas about new research areas. The discussions are also expected to highlight how these new areas of research might relate to and shape PAN’s future programming priorities.
