L'agriculture urbaine est une pratique de plus en plus répandue dans les villes du monde entier, et il est crucial d'en assurer la viabilité, en particulier pour les pauvres qui vivent en milieu urbain dans les pays en développement. Ce livre présente les premières constatations de projets de recherche originaux menés sur le terrain et financés par le programme de bourses internationales de recherche en agriculture urbaine AGROPOLIS du CRDI. L'ouvrage traite de travaux exécutés en Argentine, au Botswana, en Côte d'Ivoire, à Cuba, en France, au Togo, en Tunisie, au Royaume-Uni et au Zimbabwe. Ces travaux donnent un aperçu de stratégies concrètes permettant de mieux intégrer l'« agriculture citadine » au tissu urbain. Luc J.A. Mougeot est spécialiste de programmes principal au Centre de recherches pour le développement international (CRDI), où il a donné impulsion à l'initiative de programme Agriculture urbaine en 1997.
