Abstract

The Palestinian-Israeli Scenarios Planning Project is an effort to explore the ramifications of the failure of the current Middle East peace process and the collapse of the Road Map, and their replacement with unilateralism. Its aim is to create an environment in which various forms of consensual association between Palestinians and Israelis can replace the dominant discourse of a two-state solution. This project will allow the Palestinian-Israeli Scenarios Planning Project to explore, develop and promote a joint Palestinian-Israeli set of proposals for resolving the conflict through a new set of arrangements based on reconciliation, equal coexistence and power-sharing. Regardless of the level of uptake of these proposals, it is anticipated that the project will strengthen the peace camps on both sides. At the very least, the project represents an attempt to think "beyond the horizon" to other acceptable solutions should the current two-state model become untenable.
