Water Warriors: IDRC Partner Agua Sustentable's Efforts Recognized
Agua Sustentable Director, Juan Carlos Alurralde

Longtime IDRC partner Agua Sustentable (Sustainable Water) has won a 2009 Latin American and the Caribbean Water Award (PLACA) in recognition of its innovative approach to the development of appropriate water management  policies.

The high-profile award prize promotes the United Nations’ International Decade for Action “Water for Life” 2005-2015, and recognizes the efforts of individuals  and organizations who seek to improve access to drinking water and basic sanitation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Since 2002, IDRC has supported Agua Sustentable’s efforts to broker broad-based consensus on water legislation in Bolivia.
