Prev Document(s) 19 of 24 Next
MPRI / IDRC

Small-scale mining is a key area to address from the perspective of the contribution of mining to the sustainable development of mining regions. This is possible if its management is articulated within a public framework that reinforces governance and local development.

This document presents a strategic vision and reviews the priority issues for the transformation of the sector. MPRI has selected 2 issues for research support: Institutional strengthening of small-scale miners (active project) and Formalization of the Small Scale Mining (call will be open until January 31st, 2004).

Projects
#050317-017: Organization and Institutionalization of Artisan and Small-scale Mining
#050317-018: Formalisation of Artisan and Small-Scale Mining in Latin America and the Caribbean
