Local solutions for local challenges

IDRC’s Regional Office for Southeast and East Asia was established in 1971. Located in Singapore, the office coordinates our operations in 12 countries.

Over the past three decades, we’ve supported more than 2,000 research projects directed—and managed by—Asian researchers and institutions.

Our programs are regularly reviewed and reshaped to address urgent problems facing developing countries in Southeast and East Asia. Still, our focus remains the same—scientific research, support for networks of scholars, multidisciplinary approaches, and empowerment through knowledge.
