Middle East Special Initiatives
Supporting the quest for lasting peace
 
This special IDRC program has supported the Canadian government’s diplomatic, development, and other engagement with the Palestinian refugee issue in the Middle East through technical research.
 
Our goal is simple: To provide backing, guidance, and research on the particular problems facing Middle East countries by supporting hands-on and academic work. We’re now completing our programming.

Expert and Advisory Services Fund

The Expert and Advisory Services Fund was established at IDRC to support research and generate knowledge that can lead to sustainable solutions to the Middle East refugee problem.

Middle East Good Governance Fund

Established in 2004 to increase and disseminate policy-relevant knowledge, the fund has promoted good governance in countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

Scholarship Fund

This multi-donor scholarship fund has helped young Palestinian refugee women in Lebanon pursue university degrees—and given them hope.
