Peace, Conflict, and Development
Promoting durable peace

Building lasting peace in countries plagued by violence, conflict, and war brings a multitude of challenges. From dealing with psychological trauma to seeking justice and reconciliation, IDRC is funding research that seeks to understand the causes of conflict, and develop post-conflict solutions.

IDRC’s Peace, Conflict, and Development program is promoting developing-country experiences and views in the international community by partnering with think tanks, universities, policymakers, non-governmental organizations, and global research networks.

We are supporting action-oriented research that can positively influence peacebuilding policy. Our funded researchers are contributing to the policymaking process by providing timely information and informed policy options.

Our efforts to promote durable peace are shifting to a new approach in 2011, where our emphasis will be on the interactions between states and citizens, security, and justice.
