Globalization, Growth, and Poverty
Bridging the globalization gap

Economic growth can help lift people out of poverty. As the world economy integrates further, developing countries have new opportunities to grow. Yet growth and globalization have brought uneven benefits to the poor—creating an ever-widening gap rife with challenges.

IDRC’s Globalization, Growth, and Poverty program supports research to help developing countries find solutions through the right domestic and international policies.

Our program is in transition as we build on the progress we’ve made. From 2011, we intend to support research that informs policymaking on inclusive and sustainable economic growth. We’re especially interested in making development research advances in:

  • the business environment and regulation
  • decent work opportunities for the poor
  • protection for vulnerable groups
