IDRC activities during
International Development Week 2013

IDRC is participating in this year's International Development Week (IDW) at various universities across Canada. IDW is held yearly during the first full week of February. IDRC's activities during IDW will take place between January 28 and February 8.

This year, IDRC-supported researcher Rebecca Chiao, founder of the Cairo-based HarassMap, will be speaking at seven events:

Woman using mobile phone
is investigating how technologies can ‘crowdsource’ sexual harassment, to help women and girls in Egypt who are sexually harassed or assaulted. Women in Cairo can now use their mobile phones to report catcalls, stalking, and assaults. HarassMap displays these reports on a searchable map, identifying hotspots where extra caution and police protection are needed.
