Adaptation H2O
IDRC’s Graduate Research Awards on Climate Change and Water
The 2011-2012 Adaptation H2O call for proposals is now closed.
The Climate Change and Water program would like to thank all students who took the time to submit applications. Successful candidates were notified in December 2011 and the list of recipients is now published on our website. Due to the large volume of applications, only successful applicants have been contacted.
Check back in March 2012 for information on the 2012-2013 call for proposals.
About the awards
First launched in 2010, the Adaptation H2O awards are offered annually to developing country graduate students and Canadian doctoral students conducting thesis research on a topic related to climate change and water.
Managed by IDRC’s Climate Change and Water program, Adaptation H2O is part of IDRC’s commitment to helping people in developing countries prepare for environmental change. By supporting aspiring researchers, the awards aim to build the research capacity developing countries need adapt to the water-related impacts of climate change.
Adaptation H2O awards cover research expenses for 3-12 months of fieldwork in a developing country.
We currently offer two types of awards:
- For developing country graduate students: We offer a maximum of seven awards, each with a maximum value of CA$15,000. The award covers field work expenses for graduate students who are citizens of a developing country and who are enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program at a Canadian or developing-country university.
- For Canadian doctoral students: Up to two awards, each worth a maximum of CA$15,000, are also available to cover field work expenses of Canadian citizens (or permanent residents of Canada) enrolled in a doctoral program at a Canadian university.
